Lagrasse
is a village in the picturesque valley
of Orbieu.
The
places of interest are a partially well
preserved battlement from the
Middle Ages and market
halls on the 14th century`s meadow.
The
Benedictine abbey "Saint-Michel"
is worth seeing too. It was established
in the 8th century and possessed divers
sectors among Toulouse, Carcassonne
and Narbonne. Today it`s one of the
major historical buildings in the south
of France. A monumental bridge
from the 12th century leads
to this abbey crossing the river.
The
special charm of the city is due to
the old, still preserved resedential
buildings. Narrow crooked alleys are
lined with mediaeval houses.
