The south French Roussillon lies directly waterfront among the Pyrenees and the Corbières. This region is one of the most sunshiny ones in Europe.

Because of the very fruitful climate of the Mediterranean you can enjoy a very rank vegetation there. A lot of wine and olives are grown. Thus numerous wine-tastings are offered in the region which are popular and really excellent.

The Romanesque architecture in France originated from the Roussillon. You can view a lot of amazing buildings. There are many convents, e.g. Saint Michel de Cuxa, Saint Martin du Canigou and Serrabonne.

"Roussillon is the French part of Catalonia. A wilful country full of history and joie de vivre. With only 90 kms distance from the beach to the ski-slopes this region, situated on the north-east marginal of the Pyrenees, features all possible European vegetations and climates. With medially 325 days of sun p.a. it is one of the sunniest regions in Europe.
The civilisation of the Roussillon is affected by its alternating history as a borderland between France and Spain. There are numerous, partially excellent conserved buildings from the exciting fortime of the Roussillon. But there is also no lack of museums, theatres and festivals.
The inhabitants of this district between the mountains and the sea enshrined the characteristical south French savoir vivre. One is proud of the Catalan roots, the wine, the culinary delicacies and the best local Boule-players."
